12    I-COMM Introduction / John Thompson
Being involved is extremely important.  I-Comm gives you the chance to get experience, through the planning and the organization that goes into the event . But at the end of all your hard work you have this wonderful chance to learn and network and see the fruits of working on. The more that you are involved with I-Comm the more it will give back to you. Become more involved. At I-Comm it will give you good practice putting yourself in front of people and becoming more hirable.

19    News/ Journalism / Lane Williams
Journalists are not only the people that write the newspapers. In reality they are the people that are out there to bring everyone the truth. Sadly it’s becoming such a way that a lot of people are only reporting horrid things. But the journalists that make a difference are the ones that write stories that inspire us and help us want to do more good in the world. Participating in the Scroll will help you to develop your skills in writing and editing. Also articles of yours will be published and that is always a good thing.

26    Video Production / Brian Howard / Ron Weekes
Video production is becoming more and more valuable now days. Because everyone can now access the internet via their laptop, tablets, or even their phones, short clips are more and more viewed today than ever. If you have the skill to create good, and short videos that convey the right message; that is highly sought for, because it’s becoming a wonderful form of communication. Start learning the skills it takes to be able to do that, because it will make you more valuable to a company if you can. Start watching podcasts and looking up all the latest trends in video production. Take advantage of all the nice equipment here on campus.

2      Public Relations/PRSSA – Ward Hicks / Michael Cannon
If there is any time that a company needs to convey information to either their employees of to the general public there needs to be a public relations officer. Weather there needs to be a problem solved within the company or out of the company, having a person that is highly skilled in proper communication is necessary to keep the workplace running smoothly.

16    Visual Communication / Caryn Esplin
Visual communication is becoming a very important skill for every valuable employee to have. Although I do not think that it would be the only thing that I would like to study during my college career I do believe that being well rounded is a huge advantage to have when it comes to employment. If you have a large background in visual communication, and have some training in web design and layout, it will make you more hirable. In this field you need to be innovative, and competitive.

23    Academic Discovery Center / Tyler Christensen
The school offers you every opportunity to be successful. There are hosts of advisors out there that will bend over backwards to make sure that you understand how you can succeed, and make it to graduation . The most important thing that the academic discovery center offers is the academic advising center, and the Grad Plan. It is the easiest and most efficient way for you to be able to set goals and make plans about your schooling. Take advantage of the workshops that the school offers, because they are going to teach you skills that are needed in the workplace.

1   Getting There From Here / Lee Warnick
It’s important to make sure that you are motivated. The things that you are doing now are important. Staying in touch with what is going on in the world is key, networking is important, and reading even if its fiction will keep you sharp. Being tenacious in your activities will pay positive dividends, and if you take seriously the things that you are learning right now, like the dress and grooming standards, you can turn the things that you learn in school into money making tools and skills.

President Philip G. Lawyer
Release of: Elder Jordan Scott King

Dear President Lawyer,

Elder Jordan Scott King will return home on or about August 22 2011having honorably completed his missionary service in the Washington Seattle Mission. I have enclosed a certificate of release for you to give to Elder King. Please share our deepest respect and warmest wishes with him following your interview, and assure him that Sister Larkin and I love him very much and will miss him deeply.

Elder King will always hold a special place in the hearts of both Sister Larkin and I. During much of our time together, he served as one of our Zone Leaders and we worked very closely with him. He was one of our finest missionaries. Elder King always served with great honor and dignity and was a magnificent leader. He motivated the entire mission to work with greater urgency and to expect miracles and blessings from our Father in Heaven. In addition to being a Zone Leader, he also served as a district leader and in the sacred role of Trainer to a new missionary.

Elder King has truly been an ensign to our mission. Many times I have heard him share a powerful testimony of the restored gospel, and I have witnessed his deep and abiding faith in our savior Jesus Christ. He exhibited a remarkable love for the people he served and I know that his ministry here in the Washington Seattle Mission has changed the lives of many people forever. I am confident that he now returns home very well prepared  for a long and successful life of service to our Father in Heaven. We hope that you will find immediate opportunities for him to bear his testimony and to continue his service in building the Kingdom of God.

Again thank you for sending Elder King to us. We have challenged him to continue building his life upon principles of the restored gospel and to remain sanctified and a true disciple of Jesus Christ. May the choicest blessings of our Father in Heaven be with him always.

                                                                Sincerely,
